The results of the admission exams for groups II and III of specialties, held on May 24, were announced. Many applicants whose results were lower than expected are in a state of anxiety.
So, in which score range does the admission chance seem lower in Group II of specialties this year, and which applicants are considered to be in the risk group with results below what score?
Education expert Sevinc Purkeştasib spoke to AzEdu.az on the topic.
She noted that although there is a real chance of admission in the 300-400 score range, the probability of being admitted to state-funded and popular specialties with results below 250 points significantly decreases:
“Actually, at this stage, it is not possible to state a precise risk group score. Because not only exam results, but also specialty choice, the number of plan places, and the results of other applicants affect the admission chance. In 2026, the highest final result in the exam for the second specialty group was 688.9. This indicates that high competition continues.
However, looking at previous years, based on the passing scores and the general level of competition in the second group, such a preliminary assessment can be made. For example, compared to previous years, the chance of admission is high in most specialties above 400 points. In the 300-400 point range, there is a real chance of admission depending on the specialty. 250-300 points can be considered an average risk zone. Below 250 points, the chance of admission to state-funded and popular specialties significantly decreases, and the risk increases. Below 200 points, the choice is almost limited to a very small number of specialties. Specialties with 150 points also come into circulation.”
Below 200 points, admission opportunities are generally significantly limited, and only in rare cases can admission to a specialty be possible with this indicator:
“After the results for all specialty groups are announced, a more precise analysis will be possible. Because at that time, the probability of admission chances, i.e., the decrease and change of scores, will be clearer based on the passing scores.
In which range does the admission chance seem lower? In answer to your question, I can say that currently, the 250-300 point range is considered an average risk zone, and the admission chance in this score range is relatively low, meaning the risk is higher. Below 250 points, the risk decreases in some specialties. Below 200 points, opportunities are generally more limited. That is, only in very rare cases is it possible to be admitted to a specialty with a result below 200 points.”
