The results of the second attempt stage of the admission exams for I and IV specialty groups have been announced. 2 applicants in specialty group I and 15 applicants in specialty group IV scored the maximum possible result in the admission exam - 400 points.
In total, 1 person in each of the I and IV specialty groups achieved the highest result by scoring 700 points. However, this year there were no applicants who scored 700 points in the II and III specialty groups.
It is interesting to know what factors influenced the fact that no 700-point result was recorded in the II and III specialty groups?
Education expert Vusat Azizov, who gave a statement to AzEdu.az on the topic, stated that even a small mistake made in the graduation exam can make the dream of 700 points unattainable:
“It would not be correct to explain the absence of a 700-point result in the II and III specialty groups this year with only one factor. Here, several factors have an effect simultaneously. First of all, both applicants, teachers, and the statistics of the results gave certain signals that the graduation exams held this year were more difficult compared to previous years. Since the graduation exam affects the final score by 300 points, even small mistakes made here make it impossible to reach 700 points. Even an applicant who shows maximum results in the admission exam, if they lose a few points in the graduation stage, their chance of scoring 700 points decreases.”
On the other hand, the nature of competition and tasks in the II and III specialty groups is also different. Especially in Azerbaijani language, history, geography, and other humanitarian subjects, small mistakes caused by inattention during evaluation can lead to more loss of points. This makes it difficult to achieve an ideal result.”
This year, all the conditions required for 700 points in the II and III specialty groups were not formed:
“Along with this, it would not be correct to say definitively that the preparation level of applicants studying in the I and IV specialty groups is higher. There are very strong applicants in every specialty group. Simply, this year, all the conditions required for 700 points in groups I and IV coincided for a few people, but the same coincidence did not occur in groups II and III.
Consequently, in my opinion, the main reason is the increased difficulty level of the graduation exams and its impact on the final score. 700 points is an indicator not only of high knowledge but also of maximum accuracy and consistent results in both exams. Since all the conditions required for such an ideal result were not formed in the II and III specialty groups this year, the 700-point indicator was not recorded.”
