A legal battle that began over the change of an answer key for a question in the Higher Education Institutions Entrance Exam (YKS) in Turkey has affected the results of thousands of applicants.
AzEdu.az, citing Turkish media, reports that applicant Doruk Kerem Atam appealed to the court, protesting ÖSYM's change of the answer to a question, which was initially indicated as option "C" in the answer key, to option "A". He demanded the cancellation of the question.
According to the information, a total of 12 people appealed to the court regarding the same issue. Later, ÖSYM invalidated the question instead of changing the answer key. This decision led to the recalculation of scores and rankings for thousands of candidates.
Based on YKS results, Doruk, who ranked 579th in Turkey in the Equal Weight (Eşit Ağırlık) specialization group, stated that if the question had not been canceled, his ranking could have significantly dropped.
"If this question had not been canceled, I could have been 768th, not 579th. I am satisfied with my result and plan to choose Business Administration at Boğaziçi University," he said.
He emphasized that the decision made affected the future of thousands of applicants and advised candidates who believe their rights have been violated not to hesitate to defend their rights through legal action.
