Today marks the sixth anniversary of the liberation of Zangilan city from occupation.
On October 20, 2020, as a result of military operations carried out by the Azerbaijani Army, Zangilan city was liberated from occupation.
According to the decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev dated July 31, 2023, October 20 was declared Zangilan City Day to immortalize this historical event.
So, how many students and teachers are there currently in Zangilan?
AzEdu.az sent an inquiry to the Eastern Zangezur Regional Education Department regarding the matter.
In response to our inquiry, the Department stated that within the framework of the Great Return Program, large-scale restoration and construction works are being carried out in Zangilan, and modern living infrastructure is being created. Along with the return of the population to their native lands, the activities of social services, including educational institutions, are also ensured.
Currently, there is a 60-place Aghali village nursery-kindergarten and a 360-place Aghali village full secondary general education school operating in the territory of Zangilan district. These institutions, provided with modern educational infrastructure, are of great importance for the education and comprehensive development of the children of families returning to their native lands.
According to the Department's information, 6 educators are engaged in the training and education of 56 children in the Aghali village nursery-kindergarten, and 27 educators are engaged in the training and education of 339 students in the Aghali village full secondary general education school.
It should be noted that the restoration of the activities of educational institutions in the liberated territories is one of the important directions of the Great Return. This process serves the upbringing of future generations in their native lands.
