President Ilham Aliyev has signed a Decree on granting Presidential Scholarships to students admitted to higher education institutions of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the 2026-2027 academic year.

35 of the 102 students awarded the Presidential Scholarship are students of Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS).

AzEdu.az spoke with BHOS Presidential Scholars.

Kamil Valisoy, a student of Computer Science, who is among the Presidential Scholars, emphasized that the high appreciation of his years of hard work by our state once again proved that he is on the right track:

"Frankly, when the exam results were announced and I saw that I had scored 690.4 points, I inwardly expected to be on this list, and this was one of my main goals. But when I officially learned the news, the feelings I experienced were completely different and difficult to express in words.

My initial reaction was a mixture of great relief, pride, and joy. The high appreciation of my years of hard work, sleepless nights, and disciplined study by our state once again proved to me that I am on the right track. This is not just a reward, but also a great motivation for the future."

My biggest dream is to work in global technology companies in the future or to contribute to the development of our country's IT sector by realizing my own projects:

"I have already fully adapted to the environment of Baku Higher Oil School and the rhythm of the lessons. Of course, the difference compared to school is very big. While at school we mostly assimilated ready-made knowledge, here, especially the intensity of English language lessons is very high. At the same time, independent research, teamwork, and analytical thinking come to the fore. The lessons are very dynamic. They prepare us not only for exams but also directly for the international environment and real projects. This sense of freedom and responsibility gives me great pleasure.

During my studies, I plan to participate in international projects and competitions, and gain experience in the field of technology. My biggest dream is to work as a specialist in global technology companies in the future or to contribute to the development of our country's IT sector by realizing my own projects.

My most important advice to applicants is to work systematically and disciplined. More important than studying a lot is to work continuously every day, regardless of how many hours you study."

Govhar Nagiyeva, a student of Finance, noted that she set herself the goal of being awarded the Presidential Scholarship and worked diligently to achieve this goal throughout the preparation process:

"Until the results were announced, I didn't know for sure if I would be awarded the scholarship. After the statistical data was announced, I saw that I was in the top 9 for Group II and I was sure that I would be awarded the scholarship. When the official announcement was made, I felt a great joy as if I was learning it for the first time. This was a very pleasant and memorable moment for me.

Since I studied systematically and seriously from school, I did not have difficulty adapting to university life. I think that university lessons are more complex and comprehensive compared to school lessons. I want to perfectly learn my chosen specialty and successfully continue my education in this field in the future.

My advice to applicants preparing for university is to work systematically and seriously. They should maintain consistency and discipline in the preparation process, and at the same time, pay special attention to constantly working on their weak points while preparing for the exam."
