UNIVERSITIES with the highest and lowest admission scores

Last year, during student admission by state order, while passing scores in some specialties exceeded 680 points, in others the minimum threshold was close to 200 points.

AzEdu.az reports, citing the “Abituriyent” 12 journal, that last year the highest and lowest minimal passing scores recorded by specialty groups in admission exams to higher education institutions based on state order have been revealed:

Thus, in Specialty Group I, which includes mathematics, physics, engineering, architecture, and agrarian specialties, the highest results were observed in specialties taught in English at Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS).

Here, Information Security specialty leads with 681.0 points, Computer Science specialty with 672.8 points, and Chemical Engineering specialty with 668.0 points as passing indicators.

In Group II, which includes economics, management, sociology, and geography specialties, BHOS's English-language Finance specialty ranked highest with 653.2 points. The subsequent places are shared by ADA University's English-language Finance specialty with 637.6 points and the same university's Economics specialty with 624.8 points.

In Specialty Group III, oriented towards humanities, pedagogy, international relations, and regional studies, the highest score belonged to Baku State University's (BSU) English-language Law specialty, amounting to 664.5 points. In this group, the Law specialty of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan (APA) had a minimal passing score of 655.4 points, and BSU's Azerbaijani-language Law specialty had 621.7 points.

In Group IV, which includes medicine, chemistry, biology, psychology, and agrarian specialties, the highest indicator was recorded for Azerbaijan Medical University's (AMU) English-language Medicine specialty as 683.7 points. Also, AMU's Azerbaijani-language Medicine specialty with 624.3 points and Caucasus University's (CU) Medicine specialty with a minimal passing threshold of 614.6 points attract attention.

As for the lowest minimal passing scores, the numbers here settled at lower thresholds in different higher education institutions:

In Specialty Group I, the lowest passing scores were 201.0 points in Materials Engineering specialty at the National Aviation Academy (NAA), 200.6 points in Mechanical Engineering specialty at Baku Engineering University (BEU), and 200.3 points in Mechanical Engineering specialty at Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU).

In Specialty Group II, Mingachevir State University's (MSU) Tourism Guiding specialty with 214.7 points, Western Caspian University's (WCU) Tourism Guiding specialty with 214.6 points, and Caucasus University's (CU) Tourism Business Organization specialty with a passing threshold of 201.6 points ranked lowest.

For Specialty Group III, the lowest passing scores were determined as 344.8 points in International Relations specialty at Karabakh University, 304.8 points in Religious Studies specialty at Azerbaijan Institute of Theology, and again 273.0 points in Primary School Teaching specialty at Karabakh University.

Finally, in Specialty Group IV, the lowest passing scores were 284.2 points for Ecology specialty at Sumgait State University (SSU), 269.6 points for Ecology specialty at Odlar Yurdu University (OYU), and 238.2 points for Pharmacy specialty at Azerbaijan State Agrarian University (ASAU).
