OpenAI, the company behind the artificial intelligence-based chatbot ChatGPT, has changed its policy regarding the direct imitation of famous writers' writing styles.
According to information obtained by AzEdu.az from foreign media, ChatGPT no longer accepts requests that demand the exact replication of the writing styles of both living and deceased writers. Examples shared by users on social media show that the system directly rejects such requests.
In one of the tests, ChatGPT was asked to write a detective story in the style of the famous British writer Agatha Christie. The artificial intelligence stated that the writer's works are protected by copyright and that it could not imitate her unique style as is.
Instead, ChatGPT emphasized that it could create a completely original story that incorporates elements characteristic of Christie's work, such as mystery, carefully placed clues, and unexpected endings.
According to experts, this approach indicates that OpenAI has started to take copyright protection more seriously. Previously, ChatGPT did not refuse to imitate the style of deceased writers.
OpenAI has not yet made an official statement on the matter. However, experts in the technology sector believe that the copyright lawsuits the company has faced recently may have played a role in this decision.
In their opinion, limiting the direct imitation of the unique writing styles of famous writers serves to prevent future legal disputes related to copyright.
