In the USA, a baby who was declared dead and taken to the morgue while still alive due to medical negligence suffered serious health damage.
AzEdu.az reports, citing foreign media, that the incident occurred in Arizona, USA. 18-month-old Vincent, who was in danger of drowning in his family's home pool, was rushed to the hospital after losing consciousness.
Dr. Arian Tusi, working at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center, refused to check the baby's condition despite a nurse informing him that the baby had a pulse. The doctor declared the child dead based on the results of a blood gas analysis.
Although a police officer also warned that he heard the baby breathing, the child was taken to the hospital morgue in the evening.
Approximately four hours later, a forensic expert conducting an examination at the morgue discovered that the baby was breathing and alive. Vincent was then transferred to another hospital in Phoenix for treatment.
However, the delay in medical intervention caused severe and permanent damage to the baby's health. Eight months after the incident, Vincent, who turned two, cannot walk, talk, or sit independently. He can only be fed through a special tube.
The family has initiated legal proceedings against the hospital and the responsible medical personnel regarding the incident.
