In the 2025/2026 academic year, the vast majority of teachers working in preschool and general education institutions in Azerbaijan are women.
AzEdu.az reports that, according to statistical indicators, a total of 160,846 teachers work in the mentioned educational institutions. Of these, 135,962 are women and 24,884 are men.
According to the information, women constitute 84.5 percent of teachers, and men constitute 15.5 percent.
In preschool education institutions, 99.9 percent of teachers are women, and 0.1 percent are men.
In general education institutions, 93.8 percent of teachers working at the primary education level are women, and 6.2 percent are men. At the general secondary and full secondary education levels, the share of women is 79.2 percent, and the share of men is 20.8 percent.
