International students in this country may be granted a 2-year residence permit

A new regulation regarding residence permits for international students who have completed their higher education in Turkey has come into force.

AzEdu.az reports, citing the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) of Turkey, that according to the new rules, international graduates who apply within six months from their graduation date and obtain a one-year short-term residence permit have been granted the right to re-apply.

It was stated that graduates who apply while their residence permit is valid or within 90 days after its expiration may be granted another year of residence permit if they meet the necessary conditions.

Thus, the total period of stay for international graduates in Turkey can be extended up to two years.

It was noted that the new regulation aims to facilitate international graduates' continuation of their master's and doctoral studies, their academic and scientific activities, as well as their access to job opportunities in line with their qualifications.

It is also aimed that international graduates, who are closely familiar with Turkey's social, cultural, and economic environment, contribute to the development of continuous relations between their home countries and Turkey.
