Not every child born in the US will be a citizen anymore

US President Donald Trump has signed two new executive orders aimed at restricting birthright citizenship.

AzEdu.az reports, citing foreign media, that the new decisions aim to restrict automatic citizenship for some foreign children born in the US, as well as to prevent so-called "birth tourism."

According to the orders, children born in the US to certain employees of foreign government agencies, diplomats, and individuals deemed "foreign enemies" by the administration will not be granted automatic citizenship. In addition, visa rules are expected to be tightened to prevent travel to the US for the purpose of birth.

The Trump administration states that these steps are based on exceptions provided in the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution and cover a more limited scope than previous decisions.

However, lawyers and civil rights advocates say that the new orders will also be challenged in courts. It should be recalled that the US Supreme Court in June of this year deemed Trump's previous order, aimed at broadly restricting birthright citizenship, unconstitutional.
