“If a student sees their teacher excessively using social networks, how can they properly accept the restrictions placed on themselves?”.
These thoughts were voiced by education researcher Elmin Nuri in “AzEdu Podcast”.
According to him, when commenting on the issue of restricting teachers' use of social networks, international experience should be investigated. Rules applied to teachers and students in countries such as Europe, USA, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, and Malaysia should be reviewed.
"In the educational process, students, teachers, parents, and school administration should not be considered separately. It should be natural for certain rules applied to students to also apply to teachers. Because teaching is a unified process and there must be harmony among its participants.
In some countries, restrictions are placed on minors' use of social networks. One of the main goals of this approach is to form unified rules in the educational environment," E. Nuri noted.
The expert emphasized that teachers' behavior on social networks also affects students. If a student sees their teacher excessively using platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram, they may have difficulty accepting the restrictions applied to themselves. Therefore, students' psychology should be taken into account and appropriate behavioral principles should be determined for all participants in the educational process.
