New details have emerged in the investigation into the fire at a girls' boarding school in Nakuru, Kenya, which killed 16 students.
AzEdu.az reports with reference to foreign media that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) of Kenya has announced that it is investigating the possibility that the incident may have been deliberate.
Officials said that as a result of preliminary investigations, 8 female students were identified and detained as suspects in the planning and commission of the fire.
As part of the investigation, statements from students, teachers and witnesses were collected, and security camera footage was examined. A large-scale investigation into all the details of the incident is ongoing. Criminal investigation specialists, crime scene experts, forensic and DNA laboratories are also involved in the process.
It should be noted that as a result of the fire that occurred at night in Nakuru, 16 students lost their lives and 79 students were injured.
