In recent years, higher education institutions in Turkey have attracted special interest among Azerbaijani students due to both geographical proximity and academic opportunities. In this context, the university choices of students who have gained the right to study in Turkey also attract attention.
AzEdu.az analyzed the university choices of 177 students who gained the right to study in the Republic of Turkey within the framework of the “State Program for 2022-2028”.
According to the analysis, Azerbaijani students' higher education choices in Turkey primarily favored prestigious and internationally recognized universities. Bilkent University was the most chosen higher education institution among the 177 students' university distribution.
Thus, 65 students gained the right to study at Bilkent University. Koç University ranked second on the list. 47 students chose this university. Sabancı University was the third most chosen university with 30 students.
The indicators for other universities are as follows: 13 students at Middle East Technical University, 7 students at Istanbul University, 7 students at Istanbul Technical University will study.
In addition, Ege University was included in the list with 3 students, and Boğaziçi University with 2 students. Hacettepe University, Ankara University, and Yıldız Technical University each had 1 student who gained the right to study.
Overall, the results show that the vast majority of the 177 students preferred leading higher education institutions in Turkey. Thus, Bilkent University, Koç University, and Sabancı University together were the choice of 142 students. This indicator constitutes approximately 80 percent of the total number of students.
