India's national NEET-UG exam for admission to medical faculties has been canceled after claims of question leaks were confirmed.
AzEdu.az reports, citing foreign media, that the decision affects approximately 2.2–2.3 million applicants across the country and is considered one of the biggest scandals in India's education system in recent years.
India's National Testing Agency (NTA) stated that during investigations, it was determined that materials similar to the questions used in the exam were circulated before the exam. Following this, the exam results were deemed invalid, and it was decided to conduct the exam again. The investigation of the incident has been entrusted to the country's Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
According to allegations, some candidates and intermediaries paid large sums to obtain exam questions in advance. Several people have been detained as part of the investigations, and a large-scale fraud network is believed to be operating.
The NTA has announced that the new exam date will be announced soon and that equal conditions will be ensured for all candidates.
