In recent days, admission exams to higher education institutions for I and IV specialty groups were held. After the exam, some applicants complained about the complexity of the questions.
Young people, who stated that the difficulty level was high for both groups, have now pinned their last hopes on the second chance exam. An opinion has formed among applicants that since the first stage was difficult, the second chance exam might be easier.
It is interesting, to what extent does this thought reflect reality?
Education expert Vüsət Əzizov gave a statement to AzEdu.az on the topic.
Applicants sometimes think that the second attempt will be easier, but this is not the case:
"The first attempt for the second stage of the admission exam to higher education institutions was held by the State Examination Center (SEC). In the exam, candidates are presented with 30 test tasks for each subject, and these questions are prepared by dividing them into corresponding levels: easy, medium, and difficult.
Applicants sometimes think that the second attempt will be easier, but this is not the case. As I mentioned, the questions of each exam are balanced according to their difficulty level, and the overall level of the exams is almost the same.
Holding the second attempt exams in July gives applicants approximately one month of additional time. Naturally, during this month, young people prepare better and improve their results. This psychologically creates the idea in them that "the second attempt exam was easier." On the other hand, there is also a rumor among parents that allegedly, because the second attempt is paid (50 manats), the State Examination Center deliberately makes the questions easier, and since the first attempt is free, the questions are made difficult so that more applicants pay and participate in the second exam.
Of course, as I mentioned, these claims do not reflect any truth. When preparing all questions, comparisons are made with the indicators of previous years, and the difficulty level is balanced in the same way as easy, medium, and difficult. In any case, I recommend all applicants to participate in the second attempt and improve their results."
