The education budget in France has caused public dissatisfaction

France's 2026 budget draft has caused concern in the education sector

AzEdu.az reports, citing foreign media, that the new financial plan presented by the government envisages the elimination of thousands of jobs in the education sector, including a significant reduction in the number of teachers and teaching staff. It is stated that this step could negatively impact the future of public education and the sustainability of the country's school network.

The issue has caused serious dissatisfaction among both the education community and parents. For this reason, the country's leading education unions have strongly protested the government's plans, stating that the changes would create a “sharp decline in public services.” They call on the government to abandon these provisions in the budget draft and instead strengthen the financing of education.

According to statements from the unions, if the plan is approved, problems related to school management, teacher shortages, and educational equality in France are expected to deepen further.
