UNICEF: On average, 11 children died or were injured daily in Lebanon

UNICEF spokesperson Ricardo Pires stated that an average of 11 children were killed or injured daily in Lebanon over the past week.

AzEdu.az reports, citing foreign media, that according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, 15 children have died and 62 children have been injured in the last seven days.

Pires noted that most of the children were affected by air strikes carried out in the south of the country. It is reported that in the last day alone, 7 children were killed and 30 children were injured.

The UNICEF official emphasized that since the ceasefire was announced on April 17, 55 children have died and 212 children have been injured in Lebanon.

He called on all parties to adhere to the ceasefire and respect international humanitarian law. Pires stated that children and civilian infrastructure must be protected, and humanitarian organizations must be granted unhindered access to affected areas.
