AzEdu.az has conducted research on 10 films that young people should definitely watch.
1.Good Will Hunting (1997)
Good Will Hunting, known in our country as Can Dostum and frequently shown on television screens for a while, is one of the films that deserves to be on this list.
In this film, where we follow the story of a janitor named Will Hunting working at the University of Massachusetts, Matt Damon, who played the main role, did a good job. Despite his superior intelligence, Will, who did not continue his life well and was imprisoned, will have his life changed thanks to a therapy specialist (Robin Williams) he encounters, and a new page will open in his life. The film also brought Ben Affleck and Matt Damon an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.
2. Superbad (2007)
Superbad, which depicts the story of two completely opposite friends, is also one of the films with a campus atmosphere. Seth (Jonah Hill) and Evan (Michael Cera), who have been friends since high school, will study at different universities. Evan, who is very shy, and Seth, who is a complete knight, are eager to meet girls in their new lives. However, with every step they take to communicate with girls, they talk nonsense and become the main characters of very funny moments.
3. Liberal Arts (2012)
Jesse misses his university days, he misses his school in Ohio. The professor he considered his hero had decided to retire and asks Jesse to speak at his retirement ceremony.
Jesse returns to his school for this speech and meets Zibby, a second-year university student and classical music lover, and the expected romantic story begins. Josh Radnor, whose star shone with his role as Ted in How I Met Your Mother, also stars in this film, which he wrote and directed.
4. Frances Ha (2012)
27-year-old Frances (Greta Gerwig) is about to graduate from university and doesn't know what to do with her life. Although she tries various jobs, she cannot achieve success, and her luck in dancing, which she loves the most, is not so good either. It is a biographical drama about the life of the famous physicist Stephen Hawking.
The film shows his great achievements in science after being diagnosed with ALS in his youth, especially his work on black holes and the origin of the universe. At the same time, his relationship with his wife Jane Hawking and his personal difficulties are also presented as a main theme.
The film highlights both contributions to science and themes of human will and love.
7.Shawshank Redemption
The film tells the story of banker Andy Dufresne, who is unjustly imprisoned, and his years in Shawshank prison.
Here he forms friendships, especially with a prisoner named Red, and over the years, with patience, hope, and clever plans, he manages to gain his freedom.
The film mainly shows that hope is the strongest force that keeps a person alive.
8. Spare Parts
It is a drama based on real events and tells the story of four immigrant young people who are high school students in the USA.
Despite limited opportunities, they participate in a robotics competition and achieve great success against experienced university teams. The film is built on their determination, teamwork, and proving themselves despite difficulties.
The main idea is that great achievements are possible not due to lack of opportunities, but through will and unity.
9. Rocky
The film tells the story of Rocky Balboa, a simple and little-known boxer living in Philadelphia, who unexpectedly gets a chance to fight the world champion.
He steps into the ring against the great athlete Apollo Creed, fighting not just for victory, but to prove himself. The film shows his hard training, determination, and never-give-up spirit.
10. The Perks of Being a Wallflower 2012
The film tells the story of Charlie, a shy and socially alienated teenager, adapting to high school life.
He meets new friends – Sam and Patrick – and through this friendship, he confronts his own traumas and learns important life lessons about growing up, love, and acceptance.
