Attention to those appealing: your score may decrease - SEC

The results of the graduation exam held on March 9 for the full (11-year) secondary education level were announced last week. After the announcement of the results, the State Examination Center started registration for appeals. Applications were accepted on April 20-22. A total of 3509 appeal applications were registered for the March 9 graduation exam.

However, one of the main points of interest for parents and applicants regarding the appeal process is how the evaluation will affect the applicant's result.

For example, if an applicant appeals, disagreeing with the score obtained for an open-ended question, if no error is found in the evaluation during the review, is the previously given score kept, or is it possible for it to be reduced or completely canceled? Is there a possibility that the applicant's score will decrease when the answers are re-checked based on the appeal?

AzEdu.az sent an inquiry to the State Examination Center (SEC) regarding the issue.

In response to our inquiry, the Center stated that if no error is found in the evaluation of the written work when applications are reviewed by the Appeal Commission, the score given to that work remains valid, and no changes are made:

"If an error is found in the evaluation of the work being reviewed, then a corresponding correction (increase or decrease) is made in accordance with the evaluation criterion of that task," the SEC stated.
