In recent days, item 6.46 with new content has been added to the "Classification of specialties at the bachelor's level of higher education". According to the decision, "Real Estate Management" has also been included in the list of specialties taught at the bachelor's level.
There are various opinions in society regarding the newly created specialty. Thus, many people believe that those who choose this specialty may have difficulty finding a job in the future and that there will not be enough demand for this field in the labor market.
Education expert Mazahir Mammadli, who gave a statement to AzEdu.az on the topic, noted that specialists in this field will be able to find a job more easily in the labor market in the future:
“As a state, I think we are a little late with such steps. Because the rapid development of processes and events happening in the world already directs both the change and renewal of specialties. From this point of view, the creation of a new specialty related to real estate management can be considered a little late.
As for the employment of those who study this specialty in the future, I think that, on the contrary, there will be quite wide opportunities for them in the labor market. Because today there is a serious construction process in the country, new buildings are being built, and the need for areas such as their valuation and management is increasing. Currently, these works mainly involve economists or people who have studied in the field of cadastre, but are not directly specialized in this specialty. Being a direct specialist in this field, that is, having a special knowledge base in real estate management, will mean finding a job more easily in the labor market in the future.”
The main responsibility in this process falls on the university:
“As for the organization of teaching, it is clear that this process requires a certain amount of time. As far as I know, in Azerbaijan, the University of Architecture and Construction plans to admit approximately 25 people in the initial stage. However, it is still difficult to say how ready the university is for this specialty. For this, it is important to create new laboratories, and provide appropriate teaching materials and literature.
Of course, these issues place serious obligations on the university, and it is necessary to fulfill these obligations with quality during the teaching period. Otherwise, if the teaching is only formal and limited to the materials of other specialties, it will not be possible to train professional real estate management specialists in the future.
For this reason, I believe that the main responsibility in this process falls on the university, and the approach should be quite serious and purposeful."
