It is interesting, is the reason for the decrease in the number of those who scored maximum results in the first zone of the graduation exam due to the difficulty of the exam model or student preparation?
Education expert Ramin Nuraliyev , who gave a statement to AzEdu.az on the topic, noted that this difference indicates an increase in the difficulty of the exam:

“Although the State Examination Center stated that the exam was at the same level as in previous years, the facts do not confirm this. The fact that the questions were both difficult and time-consuming directly affected the results. For example, if last year the number of people who scored above 280 was approximately 300, this year that indicator is expected to be between 50-70 people. This indicates a significant difference in score distribution.
It should be noted that graduation exams are not only intended for university admission. These exams also include those applying to colleges, those planning to study abroad, as well as those participating for diploma grades. Even applicants aiming for fields such as music, sports, painting, and acting pass this exam.
In such a case, subjects like mathematics or Azerbaijani language being excessively difficult is not considered logical for all participants. It would be more appropriate for these subjects to be at an average level in graduation exams. In block exams, a certain level of difficulty is understandable. Because here applicants compete within the same specialty groups, and score differences play a role in the selection process. For example, it is normal for mathematics to be more selective in the first group, history or literature in the third group, and biology in the fourth group.”
R. Nuraliyev stated that the main goal in graduation exams should be the assessment of general knowledge:
“For this reason, it is not appropriate for the exam to be excessively difficult or time-consuming. At the same time, the decrease in the number of those who achieve high results in the graduation exam may also affect the number of applicants who score 700 points in the future. Because scoring high in the graduation exam is one of the important conditions for achieving maximum results.
Hypotheses regarding student preparation do not seem well-founded. Because both last year and this year, teachers and students are performing at the same level. The main factor creating the difference is the difficulty of the questions and the insufficiency of time. Especially the volume of text questions and the time allocated for answering them negatively affected the overall results. In general, observations show that this year's graduation exam was more difficult and time-consuming compared to previous years.”
