Hidden natural treasure: “lost world” rediscovered

An international research group has rediscovered a special ecosystem that has not even appeared on maps for many years, an area that scientists call the “lost world,” in the inaccessible forest massif of the Amazon.

According to information obtained by AzEdu.az from foreign media, researchers have stated that because the region is completely covered with tall trees, it has not been accurately imaged by satellites, and this has caused it to remain hidden for decades. In the newly discovered area, rare plant specimens, previously unrecorded insect species, and microclimatic features specific to the local ecosystem have been revealed.

Scientists believe that the rediscovery of the “lost world” is an important achievement in terms of biodiversity conservation, and the full scientific mapping of the region will continue in the coming months.

Researchers add that the new species found here indicate that nature is still insufficiently explored, and this discovery will open a new phase in the study of the Amazon forests.
