The common point of terrible events at school: “PUBG” players

After the school incidents in Şanlıurfa and Kahramanmaraş in Turkey, the “PUBG” detail that emerged regarding the attackers caused widespread discussions.

According to information obtained by AzEdu.az from Turkish media, it is reported that the individuals who committed both incidents had been playing “PUBG” for a long time.

This fact has brought the issue of the impact of violent online games on young people back to the agenda.

It is noted that playing this game, which is presented with age restrictions of 16+ and 17+ in many countries, by minors without supervision is considered risky. The fact that the game is mainly based on combat and confrontation is considered a point of concern, especially for younger age groups.

After the incidents, experts emphasized the importance of strengthening control over children's access to digital content. According to them, effective implementation of age restrictions and parental control can play an important role in reducing such risks.

Experts believe that some young people may take such steps to assert themselves and attract attention under the influence of the digital environment.

In general, it is stated that approaching the issue only through the prism of games is not enough, and the social environment, family relationships, and psychological state of young people should also be taken into account.
