On a frosty morning in 2018, an 8-year-old boy living in one of the mountain villages of Yunnan province - Wang Fuman, known as the 'Ice Boy' in China - walked 5 kilometers in -9°C frost to take an exam. When he arrived at school, his hair and eyebrows were completely covered in ice, and his cheeks were bright red. And he scored 99 out of 100 on the exam.
According to information obtained by AzEdu.az, when his teacher saw him in this condition, they took his picture, and that photo caused a great stir across the country.
A child's resistance to the cold was, in fact, silent proof of the poverty ignored by millions. Interestingly, a single frame moved a giant country. In a short time, approximately 3 million yuan in donations were collected. The school's heating system was updated, and warm clothes were purchased for the students.
When Wang first went to Beijing and saw the central heating system, he only said these words: “At home, we sleep with coats on… But here, I can walk around in just a shirt. Staying warm was a miracle". One child, one photo, one truth: Sometimes, just a momentary image is enough to change the world.
