Oncological treatment for children and adolescents will be covered by compulsory insurance

In line with the challenges of the new era, the sustainability of economic growth and the enhancement of competitiveness directly depend on the quality of human capital.

AzEdu.az reports that Prime Minister Ali Asadov stated this during the budget discussions at today's plenary session of the Milli Majlis.

The Prime Minister noted that for the increase in real incomes of the population and the improvement of social welfare, a total of 17.1 billion manats is allocated for socially oriented expenditures in the 2026 state budget (41% of expenditures).

“In the state budget for the next year, over 5.2 billion manats will be allocated for education and science expenditures to support education and innovative development (12.6% of expenditures). Over 2 billion manats are allocated for healthcare expenditures for the health of the population, quality healthcare services, and medicines (4.9% of expenditures).

Within the framework of compulsory medical insurance – from 2026, insurance payments for medicines for the outpatient treatment of cardiovascular diseases, from 2028 for gastrointestinal diseases, and from 2029 for respiratory system diseases will be implemented.  At the same time, a project is being prepared to include the treatment of oncological diseases in children and adolescents in the Services Package starting from 2027” – the minister noted.
