What happened and who is remembered on April 11? Let's take a brief look.
April 11 is World Parkinson's Disease Day:
Parkinson's disease is a chronic illness that affects the central nervous system, is the most widespread in the world, and is accompanied by severe movement disorders. It was first observed in 1817 by the English physician James Parkinson.
According to existing research, the earliest symptoms of Parkinson's disease emerge with disturbances in the nervous system, brainstem, and olfactory pathways. Consequently, symptoms such as loss or reduction of the sense of smell, sleep disturbances, constipation, tremors, and slowness in movements begin to be observed.
The onset of the disease before the age of 50 is very rarely observed. It is twice as common in men compared to women. Approximately 300 out of every 100,000 individuals are observed to have Parkinson's disease.
On April 11, 1905, Albert Einstein announced the Theory of Relativity:
The theory of relativity is a physical theory about space and time, put forward as the special theory of relativity in 1905 and the general theory of relativity in 1916. According to the special theory of relativity, the passage of time depends on the motion of the system, and time and space intervals change in such a way that the speed of light is constant in any reference frame. According to the general theory of relativity, the four-dimensional spacetime where gravitational forces operate is subject to the ratios of non-Euclidean geometry.
On April 11, 1919, the International Labour Organization was established:
This international organization, which protects socio-economic and labor rights, was established after the First World War based on the Treaty of Versailles. Its headquarters are located in Geneva, Switzerland.
