The winners of the “Young Teacher of the Year-2024” competition, organized among teachers, have been determined.
The competition is organized jointly by the “Azerbaijan Teacher” newspaper and the AzEdu.az Education Portal. The aim is to introduce and reward the best secondary school teachers who have inspiring life stories and perform valuable work.
In the first stage of the competition, a registration form designed for young teachers was completed. In this stage, teachers provided detailed information about themselves and answered all required questions.
In the second stage, an expert group selected by the organizers evaluated the registered teachers based on pre-defined criteria. As a result, the lists of “TOP-150”, “TOP-100”, and “TOP-50” teachers were gradually announced to the public. At the end of this stage, individual online meetings were organized with the teachers included in the “TOP-50” list.
In the third stage, “TOP-10” teachers were selected and participated in a survey-competition on the AzEdu.az Education Portal.
Thus, we present the winners of the “Young Teacher of the Year-2024” competition – the best teachers selected by the jury from nearly 1000 applications:
1st place - Tarana Nuriyeva
She is a Primary School Teacher at Secondary School No. 44 named after Y. Mirzayev in Nasimi district, Baku city. Tarana Nuriyeva's total score is 89 points. (Jury 63; Online interview 10; Voting 16).
2nd place - Alihuseyn Yaqubov
He works as an Azerbaijani Language and Literature teacher and also as a director at Karabakh village secondary school in Fuzuli district. Alihuseyn Yaqubov scored 85 points in the competition. (Jury 60; Online interview 10; Voting 15).
3rd place - Rashadat Abdulov
He works as a History teacher at Ismayilli City School-Lyceum No. 3 named after E. Mammadov. Rashadat Abdulov scored 81 points in the competition. (Jury 52 ; Online interview 9; Voting 20).
4th place - Natavan Farzaliyeva
She is a Mathematics and STEAM teacher at Secondary School No. 1 named after M.T. Sidqi in Ordubad city. She scored 73 points in the competition. (Jury 45; Online interview 8; Voting 20).
5th place - Aynur Akhundova
She is an English Language teacher at Rasim Huseynov General Secondary School in Jeyirli village, Gobustan district. Aynur Akhundova scored 70 points in the competition. (Jury 50; Online interview 9 ; Voting 11).
6th place - Ilaha Taghiyeva
She works as a Primary School teacher at Secondary School No. 326 in Khazar district. Ilaha Taghiyeva's score in the competition is 68 points. (Jury 50; Online interview 9 ; Voting 9).
7th place - Gulagha Rahimov
He is a Primary School teacher at Ambu village secondary school in Lerik district. His total score in the competition is 65 points. (Jury 38 ; Online interview 7 ; Voting 20).
8th place - Gulnaz Abbasli
She is an English Language teacher at Garachay settlement secondary school in Guba district. Gulnaz Abbasli scored 62.5 points in the competition. (Jury 45.5; Online interview 7; Voting 10).
9th place - Gulnisa Aliyeva
She is a Physics, Nature, and Life Skills teacher at Bagman village secondary school named after S. Salmanov in Ujar district. Gulnisa Aliyeva scored 57 points in the competition. (Jury 39; Online interview 7; Voting 11).
10th place - Afshan Farajli
She is a Primary School teacher at Secondary School No. 71 in Aghdam district. Afshan Farajli scored 54 points in the competition. (Jury 37; Online interview 7; Voting 10).
It should be noted that the evaluation of the finalists was carried out based on three components:
- 10 points for the online individual interview;
- 20 points based on the results of the online voting,
- and 70 points for the evaluation by a commission consisting of prominent science and education figures.
