Australia takes Action Against STEM Teacher Shortage

Leading experts in Australian science and education have presented the “Prime Minister’s Prizes for Science” for 2025, drawing attention to the shortage of qualified personnel in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) professions in the country.

AzEdu.az-ın According to information obtained from foreign media, one of the main messages at the award ceremony was the importance of combining education and scientific development with pedagogical training. It was stated that although the demand in technological fields is currently increasing, the number of qualified specialists and teacher training do not meet this demand.

Within the framework of the award, the research of scientists such as Lidia Morawska in the field of air quality and human health was highly appreciated. At the same time, teachers working in the instruction of STEM subjects were also highlighted, which indicates the importance of the human factor in the education system.

Experts note that the training and support of teachers in the STEM field should be increased, and connections between school education and the real world of work should be strengthened. The goal is not only to achieve success in the laboratory but also to ensure an engaging and high-quality teaching process in the classroom.

Australia's initiative can also serve as an example for other countries, especially for those in need of structural and quality reforms in their education systems.
