"The idea that all questions in the certification exam are difficult is wrong, and misleading teachers in this way is not the correct approach".
This statement was made by Nazakat Mehdiyeva, Director of the Professional Development Center for Educators, during an extensive interview with AzEdu.az.
The Center Director stated that there is currently no decision regarding how the second stage of certification will be conducted:
"Typically, in all assessments, examinees are presented with easy, medium, and difficult level tasks. According to current rules, there are 60 questions in the exam: 50 on content, and 10 on methodology and pedagogy. The rules are the same for all subject teachers.
Practical skills can primarily be assessed during the interview stage. However, this does not mean that the teacher will directly draw a picture or perform music during the interview. The main issue is how the teacher teaches. If a teacher first creates conditions for a student to try, allows them to make mistakes, and then guides them, this is already a thinking-based approach.
What is essential is the teacher's teaching ability. A very talented person might be a good artist or musician, but may not be a good teacher. One of the main objectives of certification is to determine how the teacher teaches, which is realized during the interview stage",- N. Mehdiyeva noted.
