The electronic format for conducting KSQs and BSQs has already been initiated in some schools. Digitalization holds great importance, especially in terms of reducing teachers' workload. Although the semester has concluded, teachers still have to go to school to check KSQs and BSQs, which creates additional time loss and an extra burden for them.
It is interesting to know when this digitalization process will cover all regions?
Education expert Məzahir Məmmədli spoke to AzEdu.az regarding the topic.
The expert stated that although modern software is available, equipping every school with the necessary equipment and high-speed internet is a fundamental condition for a complete transition to the digital system:
“KSQs and BSQs are already being conducted electronically in Baku city and in large schools with a high number of students. Unfortunately, this process does not yet cover all schools. The main reason for this is the weak material and technical base in some educational institutions. If all schools were provided with computers, tablets, and other necessary equipment, it would be possible to implement this system everywhere.
Currently, special software is available in this field, and there are no serious difficulties in the implementation process. The main issue is related to technical equipment. In schools with high computer and tablet provision, it is already possible to conduct these exams electronically. However, some of our schools, especially those located in remote areas, are still not provided with high-speed and broadband internet, which complicates the implementation of the process”.
The shortage of personnel to manage the electronic system is also one of the significant problems:
“Another important issue is the shortage of personnel. Some educational institutions lack ICT specialists who can manage this system. Currently, there is a serious need for specialists in schools who have a deep knowledge of information technologies and can ensure the coordination of this system. For this reason, the necessary conditions for electronic assessment have not yet been fully established in all schools across the country”.
It would be more appropriate to conduct KSQs and BSQs through a centralized system in both large schools and regions:
“It is possible to organize this process in district centers or in large schools with appropriate ICT infrastructure. However, since this approach is not fully implemented at present, summative assessments in most schools are still carried out in the traditional manner, using paper-based carriers”.
