More than 90% of schools in Gaza have been destroyed

James Elder, spokesperson for the United Nations (UN) Children's Fund (UNICEF), stated that over 90% of schools in Gaza have been destroyed or damaged.

According to information obtained by AzEdu.az from foreign media, it has been reported that 60% of school-aged children in Gaza no longer have access to in-person education.

According to him, over 335,000 children under the age of 5 face a significant risk of developmental delay due to the collapse of early childhood services. Elder emphasized that years of development in Gaza have been erased as a result of this conflict.

UNICEF currently supports over 100 learning spaces in Gaza schools, and Elder noted that $86 million is needed to provide educational opportunities for 336,000 school-aged children.
