“Graduation exams are mass exams. Checking written works requires a considerable amount of time. We have a shortage of marker teachers in certain areas. If teachers join this process, and the number of marker teachers reaches ten thousand, the checking processes will also accelerate” – these words were stated by the Chairman of the State Examination Center.
It is interesting to note, what is the reason for teachers not showing interest in joining this process, given the existing problem of a shortage of marker teachers?
Education expert Mazahir Mammadli spoke to AzEdu.az on the topic.
He noted that the proposals of the State Examination Center are not attractive for marker teachers:
“The involvement of marker teachers by the State Examination Center should be within certain standards. Such proposals should be made to them that can attract their attention. Marker teachers are primarily individuals involved in checking the open-ended questions of the State Examination Center, and this process is a time-consuming task.
Markers are, undoubtedly, teachers who also work as tutors, and they approach this work with a certain degree of indifference to avoid spending extra time. If the State Examination Center takes encouraging steps for markers and can attract their attention, who would, of course, shy away from an opportunity for additional income? But currently, the proposals of the State Examination Center are not attractive for teachers who are capable of doing the work”.
