Every year, on the eve of March 8 – International Women's Day, dissatisfaction arises regarding the collection of money from parents for the purpose of purchasing gifts for teachers in some educational institutions. Various discussions on this issue are also held on social networks and in parent groups.
So, what preventive measures are taken by official bodies to prevent negative situations that may arise in schools on the occasion of International Women's Day? For example, has an instruction been sent to the Regional Education Departments as one of these measures?
AzEdu.az reports that in response to an inquiry from "Azərbaycan müəllimi" (Azerbaijani Teacher) addressed to the State Agency for Preschool and General Education (MÜTDA) regarding the topic, it was stated that the "Rules of Ethical Conduct for Educators" have been approved by a relevant Decision of the Collegium of the Ministry of Science and Education. The main purpose of these Rules is to ensure a businesslike, healthy emotional and psychological environment in educational institutions, to increase citizens' trust in educational institutions and educators, to manage relations between educators and other participants in the educational process, to enhance the prestige of educators, to increase efficiency and transparency in the activities of educational institutions, and to prevent conflicts of interest.
The Agency noted that instructions have been sent and relevant tasks have been given to local education management departments and subordinate institutions regarding the management of the process of parents and students congratulating teachers: “Considering the above, on the occasion of March 8 - International Women's Day, the gifting of any material and non-material benefits, valuable items, or the collection of any remuneration for this purpose, and other such negative occurrences under the guise of parents and students congratulating teachers, are strictly prohibited. Strict control over the matter will be ensured, any negative occurrences will be immediately prevented, and appropriate measures will be implemented”.
