We strive for textbook authors to have teaching experience in both secondary and higher education.
AzEdu.az reports that Zaur Isayev, Director of the Teaching Resources Center of the Institute of Education, spoke about the importance of teachers providing feedback in the preparation of textbooks during Təhsil Tv's “Təhsil saatı” program.
He noted that one of the main criteria considered in author selection is their teaching experience in both secondary and higher education:
“If we take the subject of Mathematics, 3 out of 5 of our authors teach in both secondary and higher education. They are sufficiently knowledgeable authors, and we are aware of this process. It is an obvious fact: you can teach well what you know well, but you cannot teach what you do not know. To teach subjects like Mathematics and Physics to students, a teacher must deeply master that subject.
Regarding the acquisition of pedagogical specializations, serious work is underway in higher education institutions. According to our information, higher education institutions are convening to develop new curricula to adapt pedagogical specializations to school programs. Rapid work is being carried out at Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University and Baku State University to completely update programs, aiming to increase the load of pedagogical subjects and apply modern technologies in schools by moving beyond traditional approaches”.
