Teachers of the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) have openly expressed their dissatisfaction regarding long-standing issues concerning salaries and benefits, as well as the failure to provide adequate support for students with special educational needs. As a result of this dissatisfaction, teachers have put the right to strike to a general vote.
AzEdu.az reports, citing foreign media, that in a vote involving over 5,200 teachers, 97.6% approved the strike. This marks the first such general teacher protest in San Francisco in the last 50 years and is considered a historic event in the city's education system.
Among the main reasons for the teachers' protest are salary increases, improvement of the educational environment, and the provision of additional resources for students with special needs. Education experts state that this vote is an important step in protecting the rights of both teachers and students, and it could pave the way for similar initiatives in other school districts in the future.
