Yesterday, President Ilham Aliyev addressed a number of important issues during a meeting dedicated to the unified action plan titled “Azerbaijan's New Digital Architecture”. He particularly emphasized the importance of personnel training.
The head of state noted that greater attention should be paid to this area in the education system, and certain changes should be made to the curriculum to instill initial knowledge in students in secondary schools.
Commenting on the topic to AzEdu.az, Member of the Science and Education Committee of the Milli Majlis, MP Ceyhun Məmmədov stated that, as always, Mr. President delivered extremely important and significant messages at the meeting:

“The highlighting of issues related to cybersecurity and information security once again demonstrated the topicality and strategic importance of the subject. The head of state consistently expresses his position in this direction, makes calls, and defines concrete tasks for relevant institutions.
Today, the acceleration of the digitalization process worldwide and the penetration of information technologies into all spheres of life have transformed cybersecurity and information security issues into an integral part of national security. Risks occurring in the information space, cyberattacks, disinformation campaigns, and other threats pose serious challenges for states. From this perspective, Mr. President's special emphasis on the issue is fully justified and an approach consistent with the demands of the time”.
The MP noted that there is a serious need for systematic and consistent steps in this area:
“Otherwise, we may face more complex and difficult stages in the future. Especially during sensitive periods, information security becomes one of the main priority issues. Therefore, strengthening security mechanisms, increasing cyber defense capabilities, and taking preventive measures are crucial.
Alongside the measures implemented in this direction, the training of human resources also holds particular importance. Appropriate changes must be made in the education system for the training of professional personnel and specialists who meet modern requirements. Textbooks should be reviewed, curricula adapted to modern challenges, and students in schools should be provided with initial knowledge related to information security from an early age.
This is important not only from the perspective of instilling technical knowledge but also for protecting children and adolescents from dangers in the information environment. Therefore, I believe that the preparation of a separate textbook on information and cybersecurity, along with the development of a special curriculum and methodological materials, can make a serious and significant contribution to this process.
Consequently, Mr. President's calls regarding this area are extremely important and serve as a strategic roadmap for the timely and effective execution of the tasks ahead. We must not delay in this direction; by taking consistent and purposeful steps, we must always keep the assurance of information security as one of the priority directions of state policy”.
