Teacher who saved girls' lives: the world rewarded him

Ranjitsinh Disale, a village teacher in the Solapur district of Maharashtra, India, was awarded one of the world's most prestigious awards, the “Global Teacher Prize”, in 2020, thanks to his innovations in education and his dedication.

AzEdu.az reports, citing foreign media, that when the teacher started his career, the village school where he worked was in a very difficult situation. Student attendance was low, and engaging girls in education was a serious problem. Early marriage was widespread, and many families did not prioritize girls' education.

Disale implemented innovative approaches to solve these problems. He prepared video and audio lesson materials for students by adding QR codes to textbooks. This method allowed students to better grasp the lessons and was later widely adopted across the country.

One of the teacher's main achievements was in engaging girls in education. He actively worked with parents, changing their mindset, and as a result, girls' attendance at school reached full capacity. Early marriage cases significantly decreased.

In addition, Disale created an international project called “Let’s Cross the Borders”, promoting cooperation and cultural exchange among students from different countries.

It should be noted that he showed an example of solidarity in education by sharing 50 percent of his $1 million prize money with other finalist teachers.
