The master's entrance exam is considered an important stage for thousands of bachelors wishing to continue their higher education. Especially after the first attempt exam, many candidates report that the questions are thought-provoking and time-consuming. Many bachelors note that the logical analysis and attention required by the presented tasks further highlight the problem of time shortage during the exam.
It is interesting to know, could the duration of master's entrance exams be extended in future years?
Regarding the topic, the AzEdu.az Education Portal sent an inquiry to the State Examination Center.
In response to our inquiry, the Center stated that in the master's admission exam conducted by the State Examination Center, bachelors are presented with a total of 95 test tasks across subjects, as well as a topic for writing an essay in a foreign language:
"According to the rules, 3 hours are allocated for answering the test tasks, and 30 minutes for writing the essay. The time currently provided is fully compliant with existing measurement and evaluation standards. Of course, when determining the exam duration, international assessment practices, the content of test tasks, and their complexity level are taken into account.
When preparing exam materials, the average response time for each task is statistically calculated in advance, and the total time is based on these calculations. It is possible for a participant to spend several minutes answering a particular task during the exam. However, it should be noted that there are also tasks in the test block that can be answered in just a few seconds. This means that the overall balance is definitely taken into account. Analysis of exam results also shows that participants are able to successfully complete the tasks within the given time frame.
Furthermore, the exam duration should be considered an integral part of the competition conditions. Participants who are well-prepared, possess certain skills, have the ability to manage time effectively, make prompt decisions, and exhibit other relevant qualities achieve high scores.
In addition, the process of organizing and conducting exams is constantly analyzed, and participants' feedback and appeals are carefully investigated. However, at the current stage, an extension of the time for the master's admission exam is not foreseen".
