There is little time left until the graduation exams. Observations from recent years show a decrease in the number of applicants scoring the maximum - 300 points - in the graduation exams.
It is interesting, what will the situation be like this year? Is an increase expected in the number of those scoring maximum points?
Education expert Elchin Afandi, who gave a statement to AzEdu.az on the topic, stated that it is possible for this year's results to be somewhat higher compared to the previous year or past years.
According to him, the decrease in the number of applicants achieving maximum results in the graduation exams is mainly due to the new exam format and the content of the exam:
“As you know, starting from 2019, the State Examination Center began to apply a new format for 11th-grade graduation exams. After that period, a decrease was observed in the number of applicants scoring high points in the exams.
As applicants adapt better to this process almost every year, a certain increase is also recorded in the number of those achieving maximum results. When comparing the applicants of the last two years with previous years, we see that the graduates of these two years have adapted more to this format. That is, they have been taking exams in this format for many years now, and this affects the results”.
The expert noted that this year, applicants are better prepared for the examination process:
“As I mentioned, applicants have been preparing according to the existing exam rules for approximately 6-7 years now. They work on both test assignments and open-ended written questions. For this reason, I believe that this year, applicants will participate in the examination process in a more prepared manner.
At the same time, considering that the current exam format will change starting next year and will mainly be related to specialization and foreign language subjects, this creates additional motivation for applicants. Precisely for this reason, they are trying to achieve higher results this year, and this factor may also affect the number of those scoring maximum points.
Although it is not possible to say definitively, it is expected that this year's results will be somewhat higher compared to previous years, and a certain increase is anticipated”.
